The 2d Bright Blue (Plate II) SG.114 var, CP. A2n (3), Scott 32 var printed by Davies in 1865 on the large star watermarked paper. N unused copy, with a perforation of 12 1/2. The postmark on the above 2d Blue is known as a "fish-tail" S. The "S" designates Southland. With Invercargill having the Chief Post Office for Southland this is where the postmark was applied. Southland Province was formed on 24th March 1861. It later re-joined Otago because of monetary problems, but Invercargill continued to be designated as a Chief Post Office.

The 2d Blue SG.115a printed by Davies on  the Large Star watermarked paper. There are alot of variations from the use of the damaged and retouched part of the 2d Plate II.

This is retouch Row 17 Number 9. The blotchy overall appearance in the pre-retouch state, with least affected lines above the left shoulder. Intial retouching was effective. with graver slips leaving lines in the first "E" of "PENCE" and the "P" of "POSTAGE". Later wear affected all but the left side and showed the deeper cuts.

This has the "8" Obilterator cancel of Wanganui.​

The early goldfield office  of Waimea (later Goldsborough used a manuscript cancellation in 1866 but an obliterator with a large “W” was in use by 1869.
