Davies Printing - Pelure Paper (unwatermarked)
SG. 82  -  CP. A2f  -  Scott. 22

The 2d  Ultramarine "Pelure" I love these stamps they would have to be one of my favorite variations. 1862-63 Pelure Paper and no Watermark.

I must admit I had no idea what "Pelure Paper" was or how to distinguish it a couple of years ago. I have posted the back to give some guidance. (the 6d further down is very clear from the back).  It is a very soft and thin paper you can alway see the stamp impression from the back of the stamp.

With a Otahuhu "5" postmark.

Otahuhu was the main military camp, mainly a tent camp, on the outskirts of Auckland. It was set up in March 1861 and could accommodate 3000 men. The distinctive obliterator was supplier mid 1862. 1d was the concession rate for soldiers and sailors provided certain conditions were met such as being counter signed by the officer in command.

The "4" obliterator  is similar and is "4 ONEHUNGA A", a different location at the head of the Manukau Harbour on the west coast but also associated with the Waikato Wars.
